Our planet cannot withstand an increasing and unlimited growth. It is time for a new equilibrium, for a socially and environmentally sustainable growth, to be necessarily placed within a holistic perspective. We cannot engage in an effort to change the relationship between the humankind and the biosphere without changing the relationships between human beings themselves. We cannot even try to engage in this task if we remain within our infamously established academic enclosures. That is the reason why we have asked scholars from different academic fields to contribute to this volume with essays exploring ethical and theoretical issues as well as specific legal problems.
