Resumen
This essay aims to introduce to the italian audience the biografic and literary profile of Jacqueline Shohet Kahanoff (1917-1979), an Israeli writer born in Cairo. The essay also includes the Italian translation of Tarbut nefel (“A Stillborn Culture”), a Kahanoff’s short writing published in 1975. In this text, the author recalls with clarity her childhood’s environment and the Jewish-Egyptian community’s cultural dynamics.
