Peer review process

Antropologia Pubblica adopts a double-blind peer review process to select special issues, research articles, research reports and lectures for publication, thereby ensuring the high quality of the material featured. The procedure of anonymous reviewing is carried out in accordance with ethical international guidelines and, most notably, the Code of Editorial Practice and Conduct.
The main sections of the journal are all subjected to this double-blind peer review process: Dossier, Miscellanea, Research Reports, and Lectio Magistralis. For contributions to minor sections such as Visual Practices, Dialogues and Reviews, anonymous reviewing is managed internally by the Editorial Board itself, always in a fair, impartial and prompt manner and in accordance with the journal’s Code of Editorial Practice and Conduct.
The OJS web-based platform for submitting manuscripts to Antropologia Pubblica guarantees the anonymity of the review process, protects against unauthorised access and upholds transparency throughout the procedure. Reviewers are selected from a group of specialists whose expertise and research interests align with the enhancement of the submitted manuscript. The confidentiality of both the reviewers and the authors is preserved during the entire process.
Every manuscript submitted for review is regarded as confidential and is not shared with editors from other journals unless the authors give their consent or in instances of suspected misconduct. Reviewers will only gain access to the file submitted after they have agreed to conduct the review. The journal’s review guidelines invite reviewers to focus on both the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript, backing each observation with specific evidence.
The editors of Antropologia Pubblica have the right to reject a paper without peer review (desk rejection) if it is deemed unsuitable for the journal's readership or lacks the necessary quality. This decision is made impartially and the author will receive explicit reasons for the rejection.
If an article submitted to Antropologia Pubblica receives conflicting reviews, the editors will seek a third opinion to ensure impartiality in the decision-making process.
