Abstract
The article addresses the issue of styles of philosophical discourse by offering an initial exploration of the practice of philosophical video-writing. After introducing the problem of the disjunction between “writing” and “verbal writing”, the text unfolds across three sections, outlining a taxonomy of possible genres of verbal philosophical writing, identifying the spectatorship bias that has so far shaped reflections on the relationship between philosophy and the audiovisual medium and proposing a shift from the framework of “film as philosophy” to that of “YouTube as philosophy”, and developing a preliminary taxonomy of possible video-genres of philosophical writing. The conclusion highlights some critical issues relevant to future developments, emphasizing that analyzing the relationship between philosophical discourse and the audiovisual medium requires not only the elaboration of new theories, but also the exploration of new practices.
