Abstract

This essay investigates Edmund Husserl’s Origin of Geometry through the lens of enactivism, with a particular focus on the theory of participatory sense-making. By emphasizing the role of writing as a technical medium of transmission, the paper shows how geometry constitutes itself as a collective and diachronic enterprise, irreducible to the work of single individuals or even single generations. Writing enables the sedimentation and reactivation of meaning, ensuring the continuity of geometrical knowledge across time and grounding the “community of geometers” in a transgenerational task. The comparison with enactivist theories highlights how sense-making unfolds not only synchronically, through interaction in the present, but also diachronically, through distributed and cumulative contributions over time.
