Semiotica plastica e interpretazione tematica. Per un’analisi della parodia in pittura
Abstract
The paper investigates the distinctive methodological properties deriving from the greymasian semiotic paradigm. Moving from the theoretical and operational tools that outline a semiotic analysis of a visual text, it shows how theory and practice mutually influence each other. The methodological level establishes the criteria and the guidelines to be followed during the analysis, which represents a structured procedure starting from the peculiarities that each text includes. The analyst task will be to identify the suitable knowledges of the text, in order to restore its specific meaning. The application of the proposed method for the analysis of the Market chickens, by Cremonese painter Vincenzo Campi (about 1581), will bring to light a form of visual parody.
