The sadistic food ceremony in the Muckbang

Abstract

Our text analyzes the ceremony potlatch, gift and dépence of Mukbang, and traces points of continuity between such a practice and the rhetoric of culinary cinema. The Mukbang as a potmedial socialization device that conveys an alternative form of conviviality is analyzed. Finally, the text highlights the eroticization methods of this recent frontier of food porn and relates the regimes of taste and disgust with the phonè of sensory enjoyment staged by the performer.
We will try to analyze this practice of food porn which, bouncing from platforms such as Afreeca TV and Youtube, to social networks, in particular Facebook and Instagram, has spread widely from Korea to the whole world, finding the most disparate followers and provoking real and own cases of stardom "from below".
