The article analyzes the character of the Comedy from the perspective of its different semantic and ideological values, in relation to the values that the same characters have in other works of the poet. The cases analyzed are Brunetto Latini and Guido da Montefeltro, on whom Dante’s judgment changes radically in relation to the Convivio and the De Vulgari, passing, in the first case from a negative to a positive judgment, and vice versa in the second
