Abstract

This will examine a recent verdict in 2020 in the Court of Cassation concerning the conviction of a lay analyst for illegal practice of the psychotherapeutic profession. The reason for this verdict was a long series of mistakes interpreted, precisely, and not without reason, by the judge as pertaining rather to a medical practice, and showing the lack of a clear conceptualisation, common among lay analysts, of the differences between psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.
