About the Journal

Founded in 1962, “Itinerari. Annuario di Ricerche Filosofiche” is a double-blind peer reviewed academic journal devoted to the publication of scholarly works concerning history of philosophy and the fields of moral, theoretical, and political philosophy. The journal seeks to provide an overview of fresh philosophical insights for addressing and conceptualising theoretical and practical issues of contemporary times. Philosophical arguments should be elaborated in a theoretical or historical context, but interdisciplinary papers will also be considered if they are relevant to the main themes at the core of any singular issue. Languages accepted are Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish.

“Itinerari. Annuario di Ricerche Filosofiche” is classified as A Anvur Category for two disciplines: Theoretical Philosophy (11/C1) and Moral Philosophy (11/C3).

Peer review

The journal follows a peer-review procedure. For each article, the editorial board meticulously selects two reviewers based on their expertise in the article's subject. These reviewers consent to provide feedback within an agreed timetable. The reviews are double-blinded, i.e. the author does not know the identity of the two peer reviewers and vice versa. The reviewers are external to the journal, which means that the editor - based on a list of reviewers built up over the years and on the basis of specific expertise and the language of the essay - selects reviewers who are experts in the field and not directly involved in the editorial management of the journal.

Once both reviewers' feedback is collected, it is shared with the author anonymously. At this point, there are four possibilities: rejection, acceptance without revisions, acceptance with major revisions, and acceptance with minor revisions. A timetable for the review is also provided. In the case of acceptance with major revisions, a second feedback cycle is demanded as a rule.

In the case of a disagreement between the two reviewers (one for acceptance, the other against), a third reviewer will be appointed.  If the third reviewer agrees with the acceptance proposal, the critical elements pointed out by the reviewer against acceptance of the article will still be taken into account. The only exception to this policy of external peer review is the case of internationally renowned guests for whom it may be decided not to use external reviewers in a maximum number of two per number.

Management of ethical issues concerning reasearch practices

To date, the journal has never had to deal with cases of this nature. In critical cases, however, the journal has always convened the editorial board and determined the procedure to be followed, in addition to refusing to publish the article.

Management of post publication issues and possible correction/retraction of published articles

At the moment, there is no public debate procedure. However, the journal has an e-mail box to which reports can be sent. In the case of errata or corrections to published articles, revisions will be indicated on the journal's website and in the issue following the publication under discussion.

Intellectual property policy

The magazine publishes only graphic materials and images under common license. In the case of copyrighted material, rights will be applied for and payment demanded.
