Love the "least bad”
Abstract
In order to tackle the problem of the rough hero, it is necessary to go beyond structuralism, without however losing sight of it. It is necessary to take into consideration that ethical dimension that is not relevant to structural analysis, without however falling into a morally oriented literary criticism. If within the narrative device the hero is simply someone who runs, in the complex text-reader relationship, and therefore text-society, the hero becomes, by borrowing a Grossman title, someone with to run, becomes someone the reader chooses as a traveling companion and who, therefore, has well-defined moral, aesthetic and empathic characteristics.
