Introduction. Semio-ethics of the rough hero: when the protagonists are the bad ones

  • Andrea Bernardelli

Abstract

There is a long tradition of bad protagonists in the history of theater, literature, cinema, but also in more recent narrative media (graphic novels, video games, television series). They are dirty protagonists, impure in a certain sense, with moral or character flaws that are significant and relevant. These characters are generically referred to as anti-heroes.
