Abstract
This article is a brief overview of the perception of three groups of Mexican university students of Portuguese as a foreign language about the violence in Ciudad Juárez, state of Chihuahua in recent years. The issue of violence and migration is analyzed through class work, discourse analysis and ethnography. We present here part of the results result from qualitative research in the classroom. The objective was to investigate what are the points of view, discourses, and arguments of these students in relation to this city through a project that included readings, interviews, debates, a short essay, and the task of associating words with Ciudad Juárez.
