Résumé
The complex allegorical plot of Purgatorio xxxiii (the longest and perhaps the most difficult canto of the Divine Comedy) applies the rhetorical device of collatio occulta (the “hidden comparison”) which, in medieval treatises, defines a variety of that art of concealing the art whose history has been reconstructed in an important book by Paolo D’Angelo.
