Abstract
If we examine the transcripts of the lectures Adorno hold at Frankfurt University we can ascertain that unity of teaching and research that lets us glimpse into the intellectual and philosophical process underlying each of his published works. In this regard, the lectures on aesthetics are certainly no exception, quite the opposite: their value even increases if they are recognized as significant hermeneutical elements to go deeper into the investigation of the unfinished book Aesthetic Theory. Therefore, the present contribution aims at a presentation of those lectures able to illustrate – although necessarily in a general way – their central contents, in order to demonstrate their richness and importance in the context of the studies concerning Adorno’s thought.
